Blu-ray Monday: Fury

Fury! For this week’s Blu-ray Monday we’re giving away a copy of Fury, the World War II drama starring Brad Pitt.

The film is set in April, 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.

This is a grim, macho drama that marries the tough-men-in-peril thrills of an old-fashioned war movie with a modern “war is hell” parable. The Blu-ray presentation is particularly striking, while a range of bonus content provides insight into how the movie was made and the real life men who inspired the movie.

What’s your favourite Brad Pitt movie? There have been so many. Thelma and Louise marked Brad Pitt’s major motion picture debut (and his sculpted six pack’s first exposure to worldwide adoration). Interview with the Vampire and Legends of the Fall followed, cementing Pitt’s identity as a pin-up phenomenon. Pitt then started to experiment with different roles; confident that whether he plays a lunatic in 12 Monkeys or a dare devil soap salesman/bare knuckle fighter in cult film Fight Club, he will always remain Hollywood’s number one heartthrob. The camera seems to favour Brad Pitt; most of his films have enjoyed box office success, including Se7en, Ocean’s Eleven (plus sequels), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith (in which he sizzles with Angelina Jolie). Which film is forever etched on your memory, for the right or wrong reasons?
