When HBO produces something in HD, you can guarantee it’s going to be very polished and slicker than slick. So, when you combine this with a show that has sent viewers around the globe into a frenzy – you know that the newly released Blu-ray version of True Blood is going to be something to really sink your teeth into.
Despite being three seasons in, the HBO smash hit fails to exhibit any signs of exhaustion. Vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) is kidnapped and Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) heads to Mississippi to find him. There she becomes entwined in a world ruled by a powerful Vampire King and the werewolves who do his bidding. Meanwhile, back in Bon Temps, new threats emerge that make previous problems seem tame by comparison.
Described as an “exceptional release” by reviewers Obsessed with Film, the Blu-ray version of the Complete Third Season, which just came out on May 27, has “extreme bite: everything looks and sounds like the high-end HD TV production that it is, with sumptuous colours and textures, and incredible levels of detail.”
The Blu-ray features exclusive Picture-in-Picture viewing experiences, five discs of audio commentary, HD post mortems, character perspectives, scene anatomies, previews and recaps, plus an entertaining homage to Sookie rapped by none other than Snoop Dogg. Sound tempting?
