Back in June we bought you the news that the 25th Anniversary of Top Gun would be released on Blu-ray. Fans of the aviation classic have another reason to celebrate as it’s also just been announced that Top Gun will be getting a Blu-ray 3D makeover too.
To date, a European release for the 3D Blu-ray is yet to be announced but an on sale date has been confirmed for February 19th in the US, coinciding with a theatrical IMAX release. The Blu-ray has been re-mastered from the film’s original negative scans, and its 3D conversion was personally overseen by the late Tony Scott prior to his death earlier this year.
The two-disc set will include a six-part making-of documentary, a behind-the-scenes featurette, interviews with Tom Cruise, commentary by producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Tony Scott and co-screenwriter Jack Epps, Jr. as well as an Ultraviolet digital copy.
