Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced the upcoming release of a special extended edition of The Martian, which will be available to own on Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray on 3rd
October.
Matt Damon stars as Mark Watney, a botanist-cum-astronaut who is left stranded on Mars after a freak storm prematurely ends his team’s mission. Presumed dead and with no way of contacting Earth, Watney must attempt to survive long enough for a rescue attempt, or the next mission to Mars, whichever comes first.
The extended cut will come with ten minutes of brand new footage and more than two hours of exclusive behind-the-scenes content. Other new special features include audio commentary by director Ridley Scott, deleted scenes and a look at NASA’s plans for Mars.
The Martian: Extended Cut will also be available in the new Ultra HD Blu-ray format, meaning four times the resolution and support for HDR. For more information about the new format, head to www.UHDBDinnumbers.com.
