Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic American novel has been confirmed for a release on Blu-ray 3D and 2D Ultraviolet combo packs later this year. The US will get it from late August, with a European release to follow shortly after.
This stylised adaptation of the iconic 1925 novel stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan. It is 1922, and through the eyes of Nick (Tobey Maguire) we watch the story of the wealthy, enigmatic Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) as he rides high in an era of loosening morals, jazz, bootlegging and sky-rocketing stocks. Nick reacquaints Gatsby with Daisy (Carey Mulligan), a lost old flame and it soon becomes clear that Gatsby has built up an empire just to impress her. But as Gatsby tries to win her back, the audience is left asking, has he taken on the impossible?
The Blu-ray version will include featurettes on recreating the atmosphere of the roaring twenties through jazz age music and fashion design, as well as multiple scenes deleted from the theatrical release.
