The Coen Brothers reimagining of True Grit rode a wave of critical acclaim and now audiences will soon be able to take home the spirit of this old fashioned Western as Paramount Home Entertainment unveiled plans to release it on Blu-ray Disc throughout Europe in June.
Earning major recognition from this year’s Oscar committee, the film racked up 10 nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor for Jeff Bridges and Best Supporting Actress for incredibly talented newcomer Hailee Steinfeld.
Telling the story of a 14 year old girl (Steinfeld) who employs an ageing U.S. marshal (Bridges) to hunt her father’s killer, the Coens’ adaptation closely follows the original novel penned by Charles Portis.
True Grit is set to be released in a Triple Play pack with BD, DVD and Digital copy of the movie. Extras exclusive to the BD include a cinematography featurette, a short film on Portis entitled ‘Charles Portis – The Greatest Writer You’ve Never Heard Of’ and an adventurous film exploring the film’s weaponry called ‘Colts, Winchesters & Remingtons: The Guns of a Post Civil War Western’.
