The Big Lebowski finally bowls onto Blu-ray

Universal has announced that the Coen Brother’s The Big Lebowski, one of the best loved films of the 1990s, will finally hit Blu-ray later this year.

The film, starring Jeff Bridges as The Dude, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore, rapidly gained a cult following on its original release in 1998, even spawning its own tongue-in-cheek religion.

A European release date hasn’t yet been confirmed, but the set hitting US shelves in August contains a treasure trove of exclusive content that will delight fans. It includes U-Control features to get picture-in-picture trivia, behind-the-scenes footage and details on the soundtrack as you watch the film, a 28-page companion book featuring an interview with Jeff Dowd – the real-life inspiration for The Dude, plus multiple documentaries and features interviewing the cast and crew of the film 10 years on from its release.
