Sporting legends for the weekend

With the Olympics kicking off today, we’ve got a line-up of sports inspired Blu-rays to get you fired up for the culmination of the summer of sport. This weekend’s Blu-rays are almost guaranteed to motivate and inspire you to get out there and beat your personal best.

Chariots of Fire

This 1981 classic, new to Blu-ray, tells the story of two British athletes, Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams, and their unlikely success in the 1924 Paris Olympics. A moving story of personal and national triumph which won Oscars for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film at the BAFTAs – this carefully transferred 1080p version brings Liddell and Abrahams’ stories to life in your living room with an award winning supporting performance from Ian Holm and excellent acting from Ben Cross and Ian Charleston.

Rocky: The Undisputed Collection

Run, Fat Boy, Run

If you feel inspired by the athletes taking part in the games, you might also want to try Run, Fat Boy, Run. In this sporting comedy, Dennis (Simon Pegg) sets out to win back the woman of his dreams in the only way he can – by getting off the sofa and running a marathon. This strong big screen directorial debut from David Schwimmer, with an instantly recognisable cast (Pegg, Thandie Newton, Hank Azaria and Dylan Moran) sets the pace for an enjoyable hour and forty minutes of comedy.
