Singin’ in the Rain dances onto Blu-ray

An image of Singin in the Rain on Blu-rayBlu-ray technology has given a new lease of life to many classic films, and now Warner Home Entertainment has confirmed it will release Singin’ in the Rain on high definition Blu-ray Disc throughout Europe from July 16th.

One of cinema’s most cherished movies, Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly’s musical-comedy sees Kelly star as Don Lockwood, a famed silent-movie star trying to break into the world of talking pictures. When he’s paired with a self-obsessed co-star whose shrill voice threatens to ruin his career plans, he enlists the help of struggling chorus girl Kathy (Debbie Reynolds) with the hope that her pitch perfect voice can lead him onto bigger, brighter things.

Ranked at number 10 on the AFI’s Top 100 Films of the 20th Century, Singin’ in the Rain is a classic. Fans can look forward to a plethora of bonus features on the Blu-ray which promise to take viewers even deeper into the heart of this iconic picture. Supplements include commentaries from Donen and Reynolds as well as screenwriters Betty Comden and Adolph Green, filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and film historian Rudy Behlmer. All-new documentary Singin’ in the Rain: Raining on a New Generation is also included alongside a behind-the-scenes making of feature, and much more.
