Rango rides into town on Blu-ray in July

Re-teaming Pirates of the Caribbean veterans Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp, animated spaghetti western Rango is set to be a runaway success when it touches down on Blu-ray Disc throughout Europe on July 25th.

Following the tale of gun-slinging would-be sheriff Rango (voiced by Depp) this adventure sees the domesticated lizard grappling with crooks in the frontier town of Dirt. Jam packed with spoof comedy and parodies of the traditional Wild West genre, this delightful adventure has something for every member of the family.

The Guardian’s cinematic review highlighted the astounding picture quality, an asset sure to make it a worthwhile purchase on Blu-ray. The reviewer pointed out:

‘The dry desert heat is almost palpable, the sun-bleached landscapes often beautiful and the characters uncannily expressive and lifelike.’

Arriving in a Triple Play pack comprising BD, DVD and Digital copy of the movie, Paramount has also included a whole host of supplementary features. Commentaries from animation director Hal Hickel and visual effects supervisor Tim Alexander are sure to be of interest for film fans with a keen interest in animation, while features ‘Breaking The Rules’, ‘Real Creatures of Dirt’ and ‘A Field Trip to Dirt’ focus on the technology and techniques used to bring this extraordinary movie to life. Deleted scenes, gallery and storyboard reels complete the pack.
