The high storage capacity of Blu-ray makes it an ideal solution for backing up and archiving data, and that process has just got a little faster after Pioneer announced its new internal BD drive.
The BDR-2208 will be the fastest drive available on the market at 15x speed, and also features QuickPlay functionality to speed up loading times and PowerRead technology to bypass areas of discs with minor scratches or smudges. The drive will support quad-layer BDXL media, meaning that up to 128GB of data can be stored on a single disc.
Pioneer has announced that the BDR-2208 will be available in the US within a few weeks, at a price under $100. We’ll keep you posted on European release details as and when we hear them, in the meantime, PC Advisor has more information.
