Sci-fi fans were given something to look forward to this week when it was confirmed that director Joseph Kosinski’s latest offering, Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough and Olga Kurylenko, will hit Blu-ray on August 19th.
The futuristic film, an adaptation of Kosinski’s acclaimed graphic novel, opens with drone repairman Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) working with his partner Vika (Andrea Riseborough) to extract resources from a decimated planet earth. As the mission is winding up, Cruise encounters a beautiful stranger (Olga Kurylenko) who forces him to call into question his mission and everything he had taken for granted.
The Blu-ray release will bring Kosinski’s futuristic world vividly to life with 1080p video and a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround track. The Blu-ray Disc will also include Blu-ray exclusive featurettes including Voyage: The design and creation of the Bubble Ship and Combat: Action and stunts with Tom Cruise.
