New on Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray this week: 30.01.17

If you’re heading into the shops this week, here are some of the new Blu-rays and Ultra HD Blu-rays on offer.

Bridget Jones’s Baby

Renbridget smallée Zellweger is back as Bridget Jones. This time she’s fortysomething and single, following her separation from former partner Mark Darcy. She loses herself in her new job as a news producer, and thinks everything is going swimmingly, until she meets a charming American suitor named Jack. After a whirlwind romance she finds herself pregnant, but there’s only one problem: she isn’t sure who the father is!

The film is available on Blu-ray, and comes with a number of special features, including an alternative ending, a gag reel and a five-part making-of documentary.

Deepwater Horizon

blue waterMark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez and Dylan O’Brien all star in this film charting the events leading up to, during, and after the explosion on board the Deepwater Horizon oil rig off the Gulf of Mexico. It shows the crew’s fight for survival, as well as their efforts to prevent what went on to be one of the world’s worst environmental disasters in history.

The film is available on both Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc. It comes with a number of special features, including a profile of director Peter Berg, a look at the setting of the film, and unique unedited footage of key sequences.

Resident Evil: Afterlife

REAfter originally being released on Blu-ray in 2010, Resident Evil: Afterlife comes to Ultra HD Blu-ray this week. Milla Jovovich returns as Alice, whose superhuman abilities have been neutralized. She reunites with her friend and brother, before taking refuge with other survivors of the deadly T-Virus in an abandoned prison. Faced with an army of zombies, and a vengeful Umbrella Corporation, is there any hope for our heroes?

The Ultra HD Blu-ray comes with a bundle of extras, including audio commentary, a look at the casting, and insight into the fight choreography.
