If you had to make a list of films that would be perfect in high definition, Moulin Rouge would almost certainly be on it. And with its Blu-ray Disc release on 1st November, this can now be a reality.
The spectacular colours, music, costumes and sets have all been transformed in this restored version, which includes a new DTS-HD master audio track. The Blu-ray edition does not disappoint when it comes to the extras either, with many specifically made for the format. There is a short two-minute introduction by director Baz Luhrmann, as well as a combined commentary from Luhrmann, his co-writer, director of photography and production designer. In addition, the picture-in-picture feature length feature, ‘Spectacular, Spectacular’, includes pop-up moments of behind-the-scene footage, artwork, storyboards and interviews.
