Moneyball, the film adaptation of Michael Lewis’ bestselling book, hit cinemas in 2011, scored Brad Pitt an Oscar nomination for Best Actor and is now scheduled for a Blu-ray Disc release on March 19th. Not bad for a film about a humble baseball team.
Bringing together a dream team of actors including Pitt, Jonah Hill, Robin Wright and Philip Seymour Hoffman, the heavy hitting, Academy Award nominated drama has so far grossed $75 million at the box-office.
Billy Beane (Pitt), the Oakland A’s manager, challenges traditional baseball tactics when faced with rebuilding his struggling team on a tiny budget. Drafting in the Yale educated economist Peter Brand (Hill), Beane pulls together a group of misfits that set about changing the face of the sport forever.
The BD promises a flawless transition from big screen to home theatre and coupled with a brilliant DTS Master lossless soundtrack, it allows viewers to give their home entertainment systems a real work-out. Special features include interviews with the author, director, screenwriter and Beane himself alongside a look at the casting of the movie, how authentic games were recreated, a look at the set, costumes and much more.
