Do you yearn for escapism and mystery? Are you a fan of all things weird and wonderful?
If so, you might already be familiar with the work of cult director David Lynch, who revealed last week his 1986 masterpiece ‘Blue Velvet’will be coming to Blu-ray Disc. He also shed light on the astonishing discovery of previously unseen footage of the film’s stars Kyle MacLachlan and the late Dennis Hopper, that until now he believed had been destroyed.
In a recent radio interview, Lynch spoke of the thrilling discovery, ‘I looked into seeing where they were because some of these scenes on their own would be beautiful to see again‚Ķ No one knew where they were, they were gone. It was so depressing. But they’ve been found. Somewhere up in Seattle. It’s incredible. I’m seeing stuff I thought was gone forever. And hopefully some of those scenes will end up on the new Blu-ray.‘
Described as a dream of strange desires wrapped inside a mystery, ‘Blue Velvet’follows all-American college kid Jeffrey (Kyle MacLachlan) as he tumbles into the chaotic life of Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini) and her psychopathic tormentor Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper).
Famed for his abstract creations, Lynch is the brains behind cinematic and television treats such as ‘Twin Peaks’, ‘The Elephant Man’and ‘Mulholland Drive’and we’re sure the new footage will delight and intrigue his legions of fans.
