Magnolia Home Entertainment has announced that Lars von Trier’s beautifully shot, end-of-the-world movie with a difference will arrive on Blu-ray on 23rd January 2012.
This star-studded movie sees Kirsten Dunst’s lavish wedding (with guests including Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, John Hurt, Alexander Skarsgård and Charlotte Rampling) turn into a complete fiasco. At the same time, unbeknownst to the tense and distressed wedding party, or the world at large, a planet called Melancholia is heading directly towards the Earth.
This critically acclaimed film, which saw Kirsten Dunst scoop the Best Actress Award at the 64th Cannes Film Festival, will come with a whole host of special features when it lands on Blu-ray. As yet, these are still to be announced, but we’ll keep an eye out for more details.
