Mad Max: Fury Road will be exploding onto Blu-ray on October 5th, with a limited edition collectors’ set. To mark its Blu-ray debut Warner Bros is planning an Anthology box set to bring together the four films to date and a model of Max’s car for avid film fans.
The fourth outing in the Mad Max film series, starring Tom Hardy as Mad Max, is set in a stark desert landscape in the near future, where humanity is broken. There are no cities or civilizations left. The landscape is dying of thirst; water—known as Aqua Cola—is severely rationed. The situation is desperate and action is wild and unrelenting. Two rebels just might be able to restore order: Max, a survivor and a man of few words, and Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman of action with a prosthetic arm and a tendency to smear black grease across her brow.
This is a post-apocalyptic action adventure which moves at tumultuous speed. It is also a film to watch on Blu-ray. John Seale, the director of photography, who was cajoled out of retirement for this project, fills every frame to the brim. As he did with The English Patient, he unveils the beauty within the peril, for us to enjoy in even greater measure on Blu-ray. Expect the regular Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D discs to come packed with extensive behind-the scenes featurettes.
