Fresh from its success at the Emmy Awards (16 nominations and a Best Supporting Actress gong for Dame Maggie Smith), smash hit period drama Downton Abbey has had a release date for its third series confirmed on Blu-ray Disc.
Created by award winning writer and actor Julian Fellowes, Downton Abbey has proved to be a huge hit around the world in the relatively short time it’s been on screens. Shot at the stunning Highclere Castle in Hampshire, Downton has a star-studded cast, which in addition to Dame Maggie also includes Hugh Bonneville, Penelope Wilton and, for the first time this year, American star Shirley MacLaine.
The third series, set in 1920, sees the Crawley family and their servants face a fresh set of challenges as new arrivals rattle the established hierarchies. With the same blend of romance, ambition, desire, shocks and heartbreak that defined the first two seasons, fans will love this next instalment, presented in stunning high definition.
