Walt Disney Studios have kicked off the new year with a colossal announcement at CES, unveiling plans to release no less than 15 titles on Blu-ray Disc 3D throughout 2011.
Amongst those destined for BD 3D debuts include two of Disney’s most celebrated classic animations, ‘The Lion King’and ‘Beauty and The Beast’. In a move sure to please fans of the long standing best sellers, 3D menus and character introductions will be amongst a host of features exclusive to BD 3D.
Other names set for BD 3D this year include ‘Bolt’, ‘Meet The Robinsons’, ‘G-Force’, and Tim Burton’s ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’. 2010’s box-office smash, ‘Tron: Legacy’will join the line-up too, giving audiences a chance to relive the multi dimensional arena battles from the comfort of their own living rooms.
Disney Studios Executive Lori MacPherson said, ‘As our contemporary library of 3D content continues to grow, original artists and filmmakers are meticulously ‘dimensionalizing’their previous work for release in Blu-ray 3D format. We hope to offer movie-lovers everywhere the most incredible in-home entertainment experiences they will ever have.’
‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’and ‘Tangled’, both set for UK release later this year, are also expected to be given a touch of the BD 3D magic too.
