Cyberlink has announced that its PowerDVD software has become the first Blu-ray player software for PCs to be certified by the Blu-ray Disc Association for BDXL support.

In addition to PowerDVD, CyberLink’s long-term focus on providing support for Blu-ray Disc will see products including PowerDirector, PowerProducer, and MediaShow also introduce BDXL format compatibility in the near future.

BDXL, the multi-layer recordable Blu-ray format with up to 128Gb capacity, was first announced in June this year. It was designed to allow users to record and store large amounts of HD content.
