Coen Brothers collection gets Blu-ray Release

The wait is over…. Twentieth Century Fox will release The Coen Brothers Collection on Blu-ray Disc in August this year.

Known in the industry as “the two-headed director” for singular vision of their films, the Coen Brothers have amassed six Academy Awards, six BAFTAs and three Golden Globes between them to date.

The Blu-ray set will include four of their earlier films – Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Miller’s Crossing and Fargo, and will hit US shores on 30th August, with a European release expected shortly after.

Blood Simple will be a Director’s Cut and will include a commentary with Kenneth Loring of Forever Young Films, cast and crew biographies, production notes as well as a theatrical trailer. Raising Arizona will come with a theatrical trailer and TV spots. Extras for Miller’s Crossing include a featurette with Barry Sonnenfeld called ‘Shooting Miller’s Crossing’, interviews with Gabriel Byrne, Marcia Gay Harden and John Turturro, a stills gallery and theatrical trailers. Finally, Fargo boasts a commentary with Roger Deakins, a featurette called  ‘Minnesota Nice’,  trivia track, stills gallery, film trailer and an article on the film from American Cinematographer.

With more recent Coen Brothers films such as True Grit and The Big Lebowski getting the Blu-ray treatment lately, rumours are already circulating about a second Blu-ray box set announcement.
