This weekend, The Nice Guys, a black comedy starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, lands in cinemas across the UK.
Crowe and Gosling star as Jackson Healy and Holland March, two questionable private detectives operating in 1970s Los Angeles. Both men are forced to team up as they take on a case involving a missing person, eccentric goons, mermaids and even a government conspiracy.
To get you in the mood for The Nice Guys, we’ve listed our three favourite crime capers available on Blu-ray:
21 Jump Street
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum star as Schmidt and Jenko, two underachieving police officers who end up working together after high school. Given their inability to grow up, they are sent back to school to work undercover and infiltrate a drug ring under the watchful eye of Captain Dickson, played by Ice Cube.
Bonus extras include commentary by co-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, deleted scenes, a blooper reel, and behind-the-scenes features. Why not grab 21 Jump Street and its sequel, 22 Jump Street, as part of a Blu-ray double pack?
The Other Guys
The Other Guys takes the good cop/bad cop routine to a whole new level. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg play Allen Gamble and Terry Hoitz, two out-of-favour cops working for the NYPD. The pair must overcome their personal differences to take on a high-profile investigation of a well-known shady businessman, as they attempt to fill the shoes of the reckless officers they idolise.
The Blu-ray comes with some exclusive HD features, including a hilarious audio commentary by the mothers of the cast members, interviews, and a number of improvised scenes – always guaranteed to be good when Will Ferrell is involved.
Ride Along
Kevin Hart stars as Ben Barber, a high school security guard who must prove himself to his girlfriend’s brother, James Payton, played by Ice Cube. A hardened cop, Payton immediately takes a dislike to the rookie, and decides to take him out on the job for a day to see if he can prove himself. Before long, Barber is wreaking havoc, and Payton must take control before things get out of hand.
Special features include an alternate ending, deleted scenes and a hilarious gag reel. The sequel, Ride Along 2, is also available to own on Blu-ray.
