Blu-rays for the Weekend: The best of Schwarzenegger and Stallone

To mark today’s cinema release of The Escape Plan starring legendary action heroes Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to revisit some of their previous films on Blu-ray.

Rocky Balboa

Sylvester Stallone was propelled to superstardom when he first appeared as the boxing legend Rocky in the 1977 movie of the same name. The 2006 sequel Rocky Balboa picks up thirty years later as the former heavyweight champion is called out of retirement to face the reigning champion Mason Dixon. The Blu-ray special features reveal how the crew filmed Rocky’s final fight, deleted scenes, an alternate ending and bloopers.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day – Skynet Edition

Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises his breakout role as The Terminator, a relentless killing machine from the future, except this time, he’s the good guy. In order to stop ‘Judgement Day’, a nuclear war against humanity launched by a self-aware artificial intelligence called Skynet, the Terminator must protect John Connor from the T-1000, a merciless and practically invincible rival that can impersonate anyone it touches. The gripping action and nerve-shredding soundtrack are beautifully presented in high-definition on this special edition Terminator 2 Blu-ray.

The Expendables 2

Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger appear together alongside a smattering of action legends including Jet Li, Jason Statham, Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren and Liam Hemsworth in this action adventure movie. The plot sees the Expendables team come back together for a seemingly simple job which soon spirals out of control. Hell bent on revenge, the Expendables have to fight to save the world and avenge a fallen comrade. The crystal clear high definition Blu-ray disc brings the action to life blow by blow. The BD also features a piece on the rise of the 80s action hero that made Schwarzenegger and Stallone household names.
