Blu-rays for the Weekend: The Best of Bond

Today sees the release of Skyfall, James Bond’s latest big screen adventure. Directed by the award-winning Sam Mendes, Skyfall has been hailed as perhaps 007’s finest ever adventure – so to mark the occasion we thought we’d reflect on some of the secret agent’s other great moments, all available on high definition Blu-ray.

Goldfinger

Despite Daniel Craig’s recent efforts, for many, Sean Connery remains top dog when it comes to Bond, and Goldfinger is arguably his best film. The third film in the series, Goldfinger sees Bond face off against villain Auric Goldfinger and also features classic characters Oddjob and Pussy Galore, as well as the debut of Bond’s Aston Martin DB5.

Remastered in high-definition, Goldfinger is the perfect Bond movie to show the younger generation where Bond began.

Live and Let Die

Moving from Sean Connery to Roger Moore, Live and Let Die sees a James Bond more suited to the 1970s. As Bond takes on an international drug dealer, this film packs in action like the series never had before, with car chases and stunts aplenty.

The remastered disc includes a number of commentaries and behind-the-scenes features to fill you in on this next phase in Bond’s long career.

Casino Royale

Following Pierce Brosnan’s early 20th century interpretation of Bond, it wasn’t clear which direction the franchise would take next. Daniel Craig’s gritty, bruising take on the superspy brought Bond back to the world’s attention with a huge bang, introducing a younger Bond in a spectacular modern action classic.

If you want to see Skyfall but you haven’t seen Casino Royale, why not put it right this weekend with the Deluxe Edition Blu-ray?

And not forgetting….

For the ultimate Bond fans out there, don’t forget that you can pick up every single Bond movie so far, in glorious high definition, in the Bond 50 box set!
