Blu-rays for the Weekend: Snow White and the Huntsman stars

With Snow White and the Huntsman soon to hit the big screen, this week we’re focusing on the best work of its leading stars available on Blu-ray. So if you’re stuck for ideas this weekend, why not try out one of the following:

The Twilight Saga Triple Pack

Kicking off our round up is the saga that’s sent adolescent girls around the world into a spin and made a global superstar out of leading female Kristen Stewart. How will she fair as the pale skinned maiden Snow White? You’ll have to wait to find out, so why not check out her performance as Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga? Stewart’s interpretation of Catherine Hardwicke’s character has won her legions of fans, alongside the actors who play her mysterious suitors Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). With the last instalment, Breaking Dawn – Part 2, released in cinemas this Autumn, we think it’s safe to say a five movie collection is probably in the pipeline. Until then, fans have more than enough to sink their teeth into on The Twilight Saga Triple Pack, which comprises the first three adaptations. With a combined running time of 376 minutes, the set provides the perfect remedy for a rainy afternoon or a girly sleepover, giving viewers the chance to fall in love with their favourite characters all over again in stunning high definition.

Thor (available in 2D or 3D)

Those looking forward to Chris Hemsworth’s role as the Huntsman may be familiar with a few of his roles, but none have made quite so much impact as that of legendary god of thunder, Thor (who also happens to be a member of The Avengers). For those unfamiliar with the film, Thor sees Hemsworth star as the fallen son of a mythical kingdom who finds love with a mortal (Natalie Portman) on Earth. Yet when his new life is threatened by a deadly force from his former home, he must regain his godly powers to save mankind. Special features on the Blu-ray include extensive insight from director Kenneth Branagh as well as all the stars, deleted scenes, a look at the set and costume design alongside an exclusive special feature that goes deeper into the Marvel Universe.

Hancock

Charlize Theron has already made some seriously scary waves as the evil Queen in the trailers for Snow White and the Huntsman, so why not check out her performance in Hancock? Will Smith stars alongside Theron as a superhero battling his inner demons and inadvertently causing more destruction in his wake than doing good. When PR guru Ray (Jason Bateman) and his wife Mary (Theron) attempt to help him transform his image, he discovers a huge secret that changes his outlook on the world forever. Bonus content on the Blu-ray includes a picture-in-picture feature, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the major sequences, interviews with the cast and crew, a look at the special effects and several featurettes including Superhumans: The Making of Hancock, Building a Better Hero, Bumps and Bruises and Suiting Up.
