Blu-rays for the Weekend: Lucasfilm

In light of the news that George Lucas has sold his Lucasfilm empire to Disney and that fans can expect more movies from the galaxy set far, far away, this weekend, why not check out these Lucasfilm gems on Blu-ray?

Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures

With so much focus on Star Wars, it can be forgotten that George Lucas also created another of cinema’s most-loved adventure series: Indiana Jones.

Spanning 30 years of film making, this collection includes all four of Indy’s films: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, all remastered meticulously for Blu-ray. The set also comes packed with an extensive collection of documentaries, interviews and featurettes.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga

This Blu-ray collection was the fastest selling Blu-ray release of all time when it hit shops last year, shifting one million copies in the first fortnight. The colossal nine disc set contains over 40 hours of bonus content, including new documentaries, deleted, extended and alternate scenes and never before seen archive footage, alongside a whole list of other features hosted by none other than C-3PO, R2-D2 and Luke Skywalker.

Red Tails

George Lucas’ most recent directorial feature, Red Tails follows a crew of African American pilots in the Tuskegee training program who, having faced segregation while kept mostly on the ground during World War II, are called into duty under the guidance of Col. A.J. Bullard. Voted 4.5/5 for video quality and 5/5 for audio quality on Blu-ray.com, this is a must for any Lucasfilm fans, who’ll particularly enjoy the incredible aerial action sequences.
