Blu-rays for the weekend – Blu-rays for Christmas (part two)

Following last Friday’s post, here’s this week’s recommended Christmas Blu-rays.  Great for a Christmas gift, or to simply enjoy at home, these Blu-rays are great for the grown-ups in your family:

The Dictator (Paramount)

Following in the footsteps of Ali G, Borat and Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen’s hilarious brand of comedy returns to the small screen this Christmas with The Dictator. The strangely heroic story of a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy never comes to the country he so lovingly oppresses is now available in stunning high definition. If you like some laughs with your mince pies, this could be the Blu-ray for you.

A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas (Warner)

Fans of cult comedy heroes Harold and Kumar are in for a treat this year as their very own Christmas adventure hits Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D. After years of growing apart, Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) have new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations, when a chance encounter brings them back together for another ill-advised journey. Expect the same mixture of raunchy laughs, outrageous moments and Neil Patrick Harris in this seasonal comedy that’s just for adults.

Magic Mike (Lionsgate)

Female members of your household probably won’t be too upset to find Channing Tatum and the rest of the male stripping cast of Magic Mike in their stocking this year. Inspired by Tatum’s own experiences growing up in Florida, this comedy drama follows an aspiring exotic dancer (Alex Pettyfer) learning his way in the business under the wing of a more experienced colleague (Tatum).
