Blu-ray Monday: Thor

With Chris Hemsworth back in cinemas in Ron Howard’s Rush, and Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World due for release in November, we thought we’d give you another chance to win the original Thor, arguably Chris Hemswroth’s breakout role, on high definition Blu-ray.

Before the Avengers assembled, Thor followed the other Marvel superheroes Iron Man, Captain America and The Incredible Hulk to the big screen back in 2011. Before it came out, some questioned whether the character – as a Norse God from another realm, Thor’s definitely one of Marvel’s less grounded heroes – would translate successfully to live action. The answer came in spectacular style, with Hemsworth leading an all-star cast (Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba and Tom Hiddlestone to name just a few) in a rip-roaring action adventure that’s become Marvel’s trademark. The Blu-ray presents the awesome power of Thor in stunning HD and 7.1 DTS sound, along with a raft of special features including a commentary from director Kenneth Branagh, a Marvel short film called ‘The Consultant’, and comprehensive documentaries on bringing the comic to the screen.

As ever with Blu-ray Monday, you have two chances to win. For your first entry, just click on the tweet button above. Then for a second entry, leave a comment below in response to the following question:

Chris Hemsworth has taken the big screen by storm in the last few years – with roles in Star Trek, Snow White & The Huntsman, Cabin in the Woods, Red Dawn and Rush. And what’s more, the talent runs in the family. You might have seen younger brother Liam Hemsworth in The Hunger Games or The Expendables 2, while older brother Luke also makes movies back in their native Australia. So, in honour of the Hemsworths, we’d like to find out which Hollywood families you enjoy watching most, and why. Which is your favourite of the Baldwin, Douglas, Sheen/Estevez, Hanks (Tom and Colin), Smith (Will, Jaden, Jada) or Hawn (Goldie, Kate Hudson) families? Do you like them to appear on screen together or do you prefer them kept apart? What are the best on screen family moments? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

As ever, remember to leave your Twitter details with your comment. Good luck!
