Blu-ray Monday: Pacific Rim

To mark the Blu-ray release of summer sci-fi blockbuster Pacific Rim from legendary director Guillermo Del Toro, we’re giving you a chance to get your hands on a copy this Blu-ray Monday.

When the earth comes under attack from a race of giant sea monsters lurking deep beneath the Pacific Ocean, human civilisation is faced with extinction. A new machine is created to combat the sea monsters, and the responsibility to save Earth from apocalypse falls into the hands of Raleigh (Charlie Hunnan) and Yancy (Diego Klattenhoff) Becket. Early reports suggest the CGI animation of the sea monsters and the menacing human robots “positively shine and shimmer with crystal clear visual resolution” on Blu-ray. The disc comes with a ton of special features too; including several pieces on the set, a piece on the Japanese Kaiju tradition that inspired the movie and an audio commentary with the director.

From Pan’s Labyrinth to Hellboy, Guillermo Del Toro has a reputation for creating terrific and terrifying on-screen creatures and Pacific Rim is no exception. So want to find out who are your favourite on-screen monsters from the past, present or future. Are you a fan of vintage on-screen monsters like James Whale’s 1931 classic Frankenstein? Or do you prefer your classic monsters with a modern twist? If so, maybe you developed a soft-spot for Peter Jackson’s revitalised 24ft ape, King Kong, or are you eagerly anticipating the release of Gareth Edward’s reboot of radioactive lizard Godzilla next year? Or did another monster who took a swipe at the iconic New York skyline, the unnervingly realistic sea monster from Cloverfield, capture your imagination?

Don’t forget to leave your Twitter details with your comment so we can contact you. Good luck!
