Blu-ray Monday: Lincoln

For this week’s Blu-ray Monday, we’re giving you the chance to win Steven Spielberg’s critically acclaimed film Lincoln, starring Daniel Day-Lewis.

Daniel Day-Lewis received a record-breaking third Oscar for his portrayal of the legendary leader Abraham Lincoln, at a time when he sat on the precipice of seismic historical changes. Looking at the incendiary final four months of Lincoln’s presidency, the movie opens as the historic leader is faced with a momentous choice: should he end the bloody civil war, one of the most divisive in modern history, by settling for a compromise with the Confederate enemy? Or should he make a final attempt to persuade the House of Representatives to reverse an earlier decision to abolish slavery? The Blu-ray Disc will include a featurette on The Company Of Character, where enthusiasts can delve into Daniel Day-Lewis’ already legendary portrayal of Lincoln. Other special features include insights into the editing and sound design of the film.

As usual with our Blu-ray Monday competitions, you have two chances to win. For your first entry, just click on the tweet button above. Then for a second entry, leave a comment below in response to the following question:

Following Day-Lewis’ Lincoln and Meryl Streep’s Margaret Thatcher, who next would you like to see play a historical leader and why? Perhaps you think Timothy Spall would portray a dignified Winston Churchill in Britain’s “darkest hour” or maybe you think Harrison Ford could do an accurate portrayal of Bill Clinton in his more reckless moments? Which other world leaders would you like to see immortalised on screen? Let us know your suggestions in the comments box below.
