For this week’s Blu-ray Monday, we’re giving you the chance to win Jack the Giant Slayer, starring Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy, Eleanor Tomlinson and Stanley Tucci.
Director Bryan Singer brings a modern twist to the legendary children’s tale Jack and the Beanstalk. Impoverished farm boy Jack (Nicholas Hoult) is forced to sell his horse for magic beans, which sprout a miraculous beanstalk leading to the land of the giants. But as the beanstalk begins its ascent, Princess Isabelle (Eleanor Tomlinson) is catapulted into the giants’ realm. That’s bad news for Jack, as he has to head up to the formidable kingdom to rescue her.

Jack and the Giant Slayer is a modern take on the classic fairy-tale Jack and the Beanstalk. Fairy-tales have made a Hollywood comeback recently, but which are your favourite adaptations and why? Were you impressed by Kristen Stewart’s attitude in Snow White and the Huntsman or did you think Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton were convincing as Hansel and Gretel? Which other fairy tales would you like to see get a Hollywood makeover? Perhaps you think Anne Hathaway would be brilliant as Little Red Riding Hood, or can you imagine Reese Witherspoon as a mischievous Goldilocks?
