An image of the Blu-ray Disc logoAs Christmas approaches it seems that more and more of us will be tucking into a mince pie whilst watching our favourite movies on Blu-ray, according to recent figures published in Home Media Magazine.

Sales of Blu-ray Disc movies in the last four months of the year have skyrocketed throughout Europe (particularly Germany) and the USA. By the end of the year, sales in Europe are expected to increase 42% to 63 million units, compared with 44 million units last year.

Attributing factors to the increase are the release of popular titles such as Star Wars: The Complete Saga boxed set on Blu-ray, as well as increasingly attractive prices for BD players.
