HMV, leading retailer of music and home entertainment, has announced an 11 percent rise in profit this year, driven largely by increased sales of Blu-ray Discs.  In fact, Chief Executive Officer Simon Fox reported that Blu-ray Disc sales have doubled in the last fiscal year.

The increasing sales figures can be directly correlated with the launch of visually spectacular blockbusters such as Avatar, which are the perfect vehicle for high definition viewing.

And, with the launch of Blu-ray 3D, Fox expects Blu-ray Disc demand to escalate even further over the coming years.
