Details from Warner Brothers indicate the long awaited Blu-ray Disc release of Ben-Hur may soon be over. In an array of images released by the studio, Ben-Hur: Ultimate Collector’s Edition is set to recapture the imagination of audiences all over again thanks to advanced remastering techniques used to get the picture looking flawless.
The 11 time Oscar winning film has often been dubbed one of the greatest cinematic adventures of all time. Directed by William Wyler and starring Charlton Heston the biblical story follows a loyal prince betrayed into slavery. Not content with swallowing his fate, he attempts to battle his way to freedom and seek revenge on those who wronged him.
An official release date for this 50th anniversary edition is yet to be announced but from the look of the meticulously restored visuals, as seen below, it’ll be well worth the wait. The frame-by-frame transfer of the original stills are set to give an entirely new lease of life to this classic movie.
The two BD disc set will include exclusive features such as ‘Charlton Heston & Ben-Hur: A Personal Journey’, ‘Ben-Hur, A Journey Through Pictures’ and ‘Ben-Hur: The Epic That Changed Cinema’. Storyboards, sketches, two collectible books and other archive materials complete the package.
