For this week’s Blu-ray Monday, we’re giving away a brand new copy of The Martian, one of last summer’s biggest films, to one lucky winner.
Matt Damon stars as Mark Watney, a US astronaut who is presumed dead after a catastrophic storm hits him and his team on the surface of Mars. However, after surviving the storm, Watney awakes to find himself alone on the planet, with no way of communicating with Earth or his crewmates. After overcoming the initial shock, Watney must find a way to signal to Earth that he’s alive, while surviving long enough to be in with a chance of rescue.
Sean Bean, Jeff Daniels, Michael Pena, Kristen Wiig and Kate Mara also star alongside Damon. The Blu-ray comes with a number of HD special features, including a look behind-the-scenes, a gag reel and a number of fake documentaries about Watney and the Ares III crew.
As usual you have two chances to win. For your first entry, just click on the tweet button above. Then for a second entry, leave a comment below in response to the following question:
Watney had to adapt to a life on Mars pretty quickly. Of course, his astronaut training helped, but much of what he did was improvised. With that in mind, who would you want to be stranded on Mars with, fictional or otherwise? Would you pick somebody who had to knowledge to help you survive, like Mark Watney or Jim Lovell, the captain of the Apollo 13 mission? Or would you pick somebody who’s a bit more of a rogue, like Han Solo or Captain Jim Kirk? Of course, it doesn’t need to be somebody related to space – you could pick a more grounded hero, like James Bond or Ethan Hunt. Or, maybe you’d just choose to take The Terminator…
