Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the first movies which will be released on the new UHD Blu-ray format in early 2016.
The movies which will be released first are:
- The Amazing Spiderman 2
- Chappie
- Hancock
- Pineapple Express
- Salt
- The Smurfs 2
The UHD Blu-rays will be in 4K resolution, which is four times better than standard full HD, and are capable of displaying more than 75% of the visible colour spectrum. The discs will also support high dynamic range (HDR), allowing for much greater contrast and clarity.
Future UHD Blu-rays from Sony Pictures are expected to include Fury, Captain Phillips, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Men In Black, Ghostbusters, The Fifth Element, Bad Boys, The Da Vinci Code, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Leon: The Professional, Lawrence Of Arabia, The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Guns of Navarone, Taxi Driver and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.
