With Anchorman’s Ron Burgundy set to publish a “tell-all” memoir, and a second film due out before Christmas, we thought it was the perfect time to catch up on some of Will Ferrell’s best comedy moments – all of course available to enjoy on high definition Blu-ray.
The now legendary movie follows Ferrell’s exploits as Ron Burgundy, lead anchor for San Diego’s regional news team. Set in the 1970s, Ron is a hit with the ladies and alongside his fellow newsmen Brian (Paul Rudd), Champ (David Koechner) and Brick (Steve Carell), he appears invincible. That’s until the station is thrown into chaos when roving reporter Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) touches down and shakes things up. Special features include full-length film Wake Up Ron Burgundy (made up of subplots that didn’t make the final movie), interviews with the cast and crew, the original audition tapes of cast members, character features, outtakes and much more.
Will Ferrell takes to the ice alongside Napoleon Dynamite’s Jon Heder as rival world famous competitive figure skaters. When arch rivals and skating champions Chazz Michael Michaels (Ferrell) and Jimmy MacElroy (Heder) break into a fight on the awards platform, they’re banned from skating for life. Three years later, desire for a gold medal forces this dynamic duo to team up and compete as the world’s first figure skating male-male pair. The Blu-ray features some ice-cool extras, including a comedic look at the making of the movie, a gag reel and deleted scenes.
Will Ferrell stars as Brennan Huff, an aimless, middle-aged loser still living at home, who is forced against his will to become roommates with likeminded Dale Doback (John C. Reilly) when their parents get married. After initially sharing a strong sibling rivalry, the pair become inseparable as they join forces to resist their parent’s plans to make them grow up. The Blu-ray includes an audio commentary, extended, deleted and alternate scenes as well as a piece on the music behind the films.
