Winner of four Academy Awards, Life of Pi tells the story of a young man (Pi) who finds both his faith and his physical endurance put to the test when, as the sole survivor of a shipwreck, he is lost at sea for two hundred and twenty seven days. Life of Pi snapped up the Oscar for best cinematography and visual effects at this year Oscars, so this week we wanted to talk about special effects. What are your personal favourites? Were you quaking in fear at the uncannily life like velociraptors in special effects milestone Jurassic Park, or did you think the spaceships in the original Star Wars movie changed the realms of what could be created on screen? Do computer graphics have the same effect as practical stunts? Are there any other highly visual books like Life of Pi that you’d like to see brought to life?
Make sure you leave your Twitter details with your comment so we can get in touch if you win. Good luck!
