Fantasy TV phenomenon Game of Thrones, based on the smash-hit series of novels by George R. R. Martin, is coming back to Blu-ray. The second season of the HBO show has been confirmed for release in the UK on 4th March 2013, with other EU regions to follow.
Game of Thrones, critically acclaimed winner of multiple awards, is a medieval fantasy epic set in the fictional Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, following the struggles among the realm’s families for control of the Iron Throne. Largely based on the novel A Clash of Kings, the second season continues with the themes that have seen the show labelled ‘The Sopranos in Middle-Earth’.
As well as the stunning high definition picture you’d expect, the Blu-ray will come stuffed with bonus content. In addition to the commentaries, making-of documentary, interview with George R. R. Martin and actors roundtable that also appear on the DVD, the Blu-ray version will feature exclusive animated histories on the show’s locations, an interactive guide to the characters vying for the throne, an in-episode guide (with background and behind-the-scenes information popping up during viewing) and several hidden easter eggs.
