With The Hunger Games released in cinemas from today, this week we’re taking a look at the best book adaptations available on Blu-ray. So if you’re stuck for ideas this weekend, why not try out one of the following:
Harry Potter – The Complete 8-Film Collection
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson lead an all star cast in the globally renowned Harry Potter series, adapted from J. K. Rowling’s much loved tales about witches and wizards. From fledgling students to masters of magic, this eight movie collection comprises the entire back catalogue of adventures, presented in stunning HD, across 11 BDs packed with exciting and entertaining features. Fans of the franchise can look forward to Maximum Movie Mode viewing, features on the author, directors, cast and productions, a look at costumes, sets, stunts and special effects and much much more.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy – The Extended Edition
Promising the most complete Lord of the Rings experience ever, New Line Cinema released a limited edition BD box set of all three extended versions of the movies last year. How does the new Extended Edition compare with previous cuts we hear you ask? Described as ‘immaculate looking’ and ‘spotless’ by a reviewer at Collider.com, the extended editions offer over two hours of extra footage and a whole host of extras for fans to enjoy. These include commentaries from director Peter Jackson, the design and production teams, and cast members including Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, and Orlando Bloom, alongside insightful documentaries from Costas Botes.
The Twilight Saga Triple Pack
Adolescent girls across the globe have fallen head-over-heels for the timeless, star-crossed tale of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and her mysterious suitors, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). With the latest instalment, Breaking Dawn – Part 1, released only weeks ago on BD and the final chapter due in cinemas this year, we think it’s safe to say a five movie collection is probably in the pipeline. Until then, fans have more than enough to sink their teeth into on The Twilight Saga Triple Pack which comprises the first three adaptations. With a combined running time of 376 minutes, the set provides the perfect remedy for a rainy afternoon or a girly sleepover, giving viewers the chance to fall in love with their favourite characters all over again in stunning high definition.
