With no less than six Academy Award nominations under its saddle, War Horse is set to make a stunning Blu-ray Disc debut when it hits European shores on May 7th. Walt Disney Home Entertainment has revealed a list of special features which are set to be included on Steven Spielberg’s adaptation– so let’s take a look at what’s in store!
The screen adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s novel, penned by the minds behind Billy Elliot (Lee Hall) and Love Actually (Richard Curtis) features an impressive cast including Peter Mullan, Emily Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch. The emotional drama follows their interactions with a horse named Joey who journeys through the hellish landscapes of war torn WWI Europe.
So far, Disney has confirmed the Blu-ray bonus supplements include an hour long documentary on the film’s production and six behind-the-scenes featurettes named War Horse: The Journey Home, War Horse: The Look, Through the Producer’s Lens, Editing and Scoring, An Extra’s Point of View and The Sounds of War Horse, all of which promise to immerse viewers even further into the making of this beautiful story.
