With Michael Bay confirmed to direct another Transformers movie, we’re taking a look at the best of his work so far on Blu-ray. So if you’re stuck for ideas this weekend, why not try out one of the following:
We couldn’t do a ‘best of Bay’ post and not mention the existing Transformers movie franchise that, to date that has grossed over $1 billion. The battles between two robot races aided by teenager Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) and his friends have captivated audiences for years with their adrenalin-pumping action sequences and phenomenal special effects. Extras exclusive to the three movie box set include extensive commentaries from Bay, never before seen interviews with the cast and crew, a look at the concept art, robot designs and weaponry as well as much, much more.
Pearl Harbor
This romantic epic starring Hollywood heavyweights Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett as fighter pilots in a love-triangle is famed for its impressive and emotional depiction of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Armageddon
Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck team up as oil drillers turned astronauts for this blockbuster about a Texas-sized meteor on a collision course with Earth. With their team of unlikely but loveable misfits including Steve Buscemi, Billy Bob Thornton, Owen Wilson and Michael Duncan, the men set about saving the planet from destruction. Special features on the box set include interviews with the main cast members, a look at filming in zero-gravity conditions as well as the character development, costumes and set design.
