This week Music Box Films has released the trio of movie adaptations from Steig Larsson’s worldwide literary phenomenon on Blu-ray Disc in an extended edition called The Girl Who… Millennium Trilogy.
Addictive, passionate and as dark as they come, the Swedish language movies (which are currently being revamped for Hollywood by the legendary David Fincher) follow the unlikely partnership of troubled computer hacker Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) and charming journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist).
Featuring a colossal two hours of extra footage previously unseen in the theatrical releases, the four BD set promises fans the most faithful adaptation of Larsson’s vision yet. Also included is a special 53 minute documentary entitled Millennium: The Story, which goes into huge detail about Larsson’s life, work and the cultural impact of his books which he tragically didn’t live to see.
So if you fancy a walk on the wild side with murder, violence, corruption and rough justice, why not try out what critics have labelled the biggest franchise since Harry Potter.
