Twentieth Century Fox had a winning formula when it combined the supreme Oscar winning talents of Reese Witherspoon and Christopher Waltz with rising star Robert Pattinson, in the big screen adaptation of Water for Elephants, and it’s sure to be a runaway success on Blu-ray Disc too when it touches down throughout Europe on September 5th.
This passionate and emotional story follows the fateful lives of two very different people who fall in love against all odds. Pattinson plays Jacob, a penniless and recently orphaned student, who uses his expertise with animals to win a job with a second-rate travelling circus. However when Jacob falls for star performer Marlena (Witherspoon) the wrath of her husband August, the charismatic but unbalanced circus ringmaster, is unleashed with terrifying consequences.
Arriving in a Triple Play pack comprising BD, DVD and Digital Copy of the movie, Twentieth Century Fox has also included a whole host of exclusive supplementary features. Viewers can find extensive audio commentaries from both director and screenwriter and an intimate examination of the book’s adaptation from page to screen in feature ‘The Travelling Show’. Other extras include features exploring the performance training Witherspoon underwent to assume her role and the animal handling Pattinson took on for his. It also boasts a behind-the-scenes look at the sets, animals, props and techniques used to vividly re-create the theatrical era of the film, as well as deleted scenes, cast interviews and a picture gallery complete the pack.
