In a recent interview with US movie website Ain’t It Cool News, director Stephen Spielberg confirmed a Blu-ray Disc version of his blockbuster Jaws is on its way.
Looking for more bite from your scary movies? Look no further than this classic tale of a police chief trying to protect beachgoers from a giant man-eating shark. Remaining to this day one of history’s most memorable films thanks to its haunting score and less-is-more approach to thrills and chills, it takes second place in AFI’s list of the Top 100 heart-pounding pictures of all time.
So what can fans expect from a re-mastered version of the movie? Spielberg emphasized digital corrections will be minimal:
“There’s going to be no more digital enhancements or digital additions to anything based on any film I direct… At this point right now I think letting movies exist in the era, with all the flaws and all of the flourishes, is a wonderful way to mark time and mark history.”
This news accompanies reports that Universal is also prepping Spielberg’s Jurassic Park Trilogy for a Blu-ray release later this year. Fans of the Oscar-winner certainly have plenty to look forward to this year!
