Disney has announced that it is planning to bring the all-new 3D version of Tim Burton’s classic animated tale The Nightmare Before Christmas to Blu-ray this summer.
The film that took over 100 people three years to complete is undoubtedly one of Disney’s underdog success stories. The macabre tail based on a ghoulish blend of stunning animation, wicked humour, imaginative character design, musical whimsy and festive cheer has progressively grown in popularity since it came to theatres initially in 1993. Since then, it has been discovered by generation after generation on DVD, Blu-ray and cinema re-release. In 2006, Disney converted it to 3D and since then US cinemas show it every Halloween. Now, Disney is bringing us The Nightmare Before Christmas on Blu-ray 3D for the first time ever.
A European release date has yet to be confirmed, but it’s set to hit US shelves on August 30. In keeping with previous Disney 3D titles, fans will be delighted to hear that the release will be available as a three disc combo pack – including a including the 3D disc, a Blu-ray disc and a DVD/Digital hybrid.
The package also boasts a smorgasbord of special features – including a special introduction by Tim Burton, Jack’s Haunted Mansion Holiday Tour, Tim Burton’s Original poem narrated by Christopher Lee, film commentary and behind the scenes clips.
