THX has this week announced a new certification for Blu-ray 3D that has been jointly developed with BluFocus, one of the Blu-ray Disc Association’s official testing labs.
The certification will measure 3D picture quality, interoperability and the physiological effects of 3D. Discs that meet the criteria will be able to use the dedicated logo (above) on disc packaging.
To achieve the AV certification, discs need to demonstrate that original master video and audio are maintained. The C certification refers to all the 3D elements on a disc, including characters, graphics and subtitles, while the I certification judges interoperability.
