Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced the Blu-ray release of The Handmaid’s Tale: Season One, which will be available to buy from 13th March.
Based on Margaret Atwood’s best-selling novel, The Handmaid’s Tale is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. In the face of environmental disasters and a plunging fertility rate, Gilead is ruled by a fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state. Offred, one of the few remaining fertile women, is forced into servitude in a last-ditch attempt to repopulate the world. Offred must navigate between Commanders, their cruel wives, domestic Marthas, and her fellow Handmaids – where anyone could be a spy for Gilead – with one goal: to survive and find the daughter who was taken from her.
The Blu-ray come with two fascinating behind-the-scenes featurettes on the making of the show, “From Script to Screen” and “Hope in Gilead.”
